Jojoba oil _ Grape oil
- remove make up
- Cleanse pores
Description
A self-emulsifying cleansing balm is a solid-to-oil cleanser that melts on the skin,
dissolving makeup, sunscreen, and impurities. When it comes into contact with water, it
transforms into a milky texture (thanks to emulsifiers), making it easy to rinse off without
leaving a greasy residue.
Enriched with jojoba oil (a skin-mimicking wax ester) and grapeseed oil (a lightweight,
antioxidant-rich oil), this balm provides both deep cleansing and skin nourishment.
Benefits & Advantages
-
Effective cleansing: Removes heavy makeup, SPF, and excess sebum.
-
Non-stripping: Maintains skin’s natural moisture barrier.
-
Skin-nourishing oils:
-
Jojoba oil – balances sebum, suitable for oily and dry skin.
-
Grapeseed oil – rich in linoleic acid and vitamin E, helps with acne-prone or sensitive skin.
-
-
Gentle on skin: Suitable for daily use, unlike harsh foaming cleansers.
-
Convenient: Balms travel well, don’t spill, and melt easily on skin.
-
Self-emulsifying: Rinses clean without needing a separate cloth.
Uses
-
First step of double cleansing: Ideal for removing sunscreen and makeup before following up with a water-based cleanser.
-
Daily cleanser for dry or combination skin.
-
Massage balm: Can be used for short facial massage to boost circulation while cleansing.
Disadvantages
-
Not enough alone: May not fully cleanse pores if not followed by a second water-based cleanser (esp. for acne-prone skin).
-
Texture preference: Some people dislike balm-to-oil texture compared to gels/foams.
-
Possible residue: If not emulsified properly, it can leave a film.
-
Ingredient sensitivity:
-
Grapeseed oil may not suit extremely sensitive skin.
-
Jojoba oil is generally safe, but in rare cases can cause breakouts.
-
Avoid / Caution
-
Avoid if you have a history of fungal acne (Malassezia) – oils may worsen it.
-
Avoid leaving it on skin too long (it’s a cleanser, not a leave-on product).
-
Avoid using it as the only cleanser if you wear heavy makeup or live in a very polluted environment — always follow up with a water-based cleanser.
-
Check labels for added fragrances or essential oils, which can irritate sensitive skin.
